I just found this article in the April issue of Unclesally*s (German music magazine aka prepare for lousy translation). The Long Blondes say something about The Indelicates, The Indelicates say something about BRS, BRS say something about The Long Blondes, and then a little article about each. I'll leave out the BRS-unrelated stuff.
The Indelicates about Blood Red Shoes:
"There's this incredible hype but everybody knows: There are many bad Boy-Girl-combinations in indie biz - and Blood Red Shoes are the exact opposite of that!"
Blood Red Shoes about The Long Blondes:
"They're definitly idols for us. When the Long Blondes released their debut there were hardly any compareable bands and their success opened doors for many newcomer bands."
(eh... didn't they proudly throw fruit at them at T in the Park? lolz)
Blood Red Shoes
"We've seen but not actually known each other for a while (LOL lousiest translation ever, I'm really sorry) and played in different bands until 2 years ago. When those split up we met in Brighton by accident. I stole her hat and said she 'You won't get it back until you've practised with me'", says drummer Steven.
Laura-Mary loved her hat so much that she had no choice but to agree. That's how Blood Red Shoes eventually had success. "At first I thought that guy just wanted to pick me up, but Steve already had a shitload of songs with him and just a few weeks later our debut 'Box Of Secrets' was done", says the singer in great relief.
Together the two of them created this spring's top album. Because: the bone-dry indie rock gets right into your body within minutes. Only the question about their personal relationship stays unanswered - after all their debut is called 'Box Of Secrets' for a reason.
