My favourite band in my favourite venue (well in Dublin anyways). Yes, this year is starting looking up. God bless them!

WHERES THE GUITARS? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO RUSSELL!

i like it, as usual -lyrically its a load of bollocks though.

edit - my mercury's in retrograde?

wth does that mean Laughing

edit2 : ive just answered my own question - http://www.astrologycom.com/mercret.html

So really it just means- "My everything is messed up"

That's what I got from that site.

The same site that said the planet stops and turns around through the zodiac. *OOOOOH*

Correct me at any point if I'm wrong.

"The winged messenger" I'm assuming they mean the planet, but it could actually be a geniune postman flying around in the vast nothingness of space.

I wonder if he adopts Royal Mail's "Too big to fit through the letterbox" policy. Planets lining up in the sorting office between the ridiculous hours of 12 and 2 to pick up packages that are usually completely useless to them.

I really don't care for astrology.

Or Royal Mail.

Or (to get back on topic) the single =[

And. Song. What?

Same. It'll probably grow on me. But right now, it is a bit, er, what?

It definately wasn't worth the countdown and cryptic Radio 1 message.

So much build up to that...

I do love bloc party. I bought both their albums the day they came out and love them live.

Just listened to the new song. It's interesting. It might take some listens. Also to those thinking where the guitars are, they're probably making all the sounds on severely distorted and effect laden guitars.

I miss the guitar too. At least there's drums. I'm waiting for the new album very much, I think Mercury is...interesting. A bit irritating maybe. Oh, I don't know, still my favourite band, I hope they don't lose the sense of melody. And amazing guitars.

The song itself sounds quite sinister and evil, a lot darker than anything they've really done up to now I think. It's taking that whole The Prayer sound to another level. It's not something your going to find yourself dancing to, but it's unlike anything really out there at the minute. The only constant I guess is change, and I'm more than happy to buy Blocs records for as long as they sound good and are original, which this very much is. The record is missing a lot of what has made Bloc Party famous, and maybe it's flying too close to the sun in terms of it's sheer ambition (the trumpets I guess) but you have to remember Bloc Party are, dare I say, "Pioneers" you know? If everything they recorded sounded like Silent Alarm then that would be great, absolutely no doubt about that .But they're really throwing down the gauglet with this one, and I respect that. It’s some tune!

The new song's really good, I think. Having only listened to it once. God know's what Kele's on about. And like Rob, I miss Russell's guitars. But it's an interesting taster of the album, at least.

After being confused to fuck over what the hell 'Mercury's in retrograde' meant, I finally found out what it means! It's a physic's term used to described the motions of the planets, that appear to be going in the opposite direction to the one they are going in from Earths perspective.

Not that I think anyone really care's but I found it interesting.

I was also reading up on that whilst reading the universe section through Wiki. I then started looking up stuff on supermassive black holes Bose Einstein condensation, and various other topics relating to a forth state of matter until I felt my brain start to bleed!

Here's something I learned today. If you were to take a teaspoon sized sample from a neutron star you'd need a fork lift to pick it up! How Kele could structure a song around that now I don't know, but it would be an interesting direction to take his songwritting don't you think?

I bet he watches The Sky at Night. I know I do, but I'm lonely and have and have no friends.

So wait, you read up on Supermassive Black Holes because of Bloc Party?

I think someone's being influenced by a Matt Bellamy somewhere...

I love that sort of stuff. If I'd taken physic's for my degree I would've loved learning about that stuff.

I also regret not taking an optional module in some astonomy stff in my first year. It sounded like a well ace module.

I'm doing both A-Level.

What I like about chemistry is there's so much room for blagging lol.

Especially if you're studying theoretical physics (according to my physics teacher who has a PhD in it lol)

Blagging?? There's no such thing as blagging in Chemistry my boy! If something goes wrong with your experiment you've got to figure what and then take measures to rectify it.

The best thing about chemistry though. You get to learn what things blow up or not. Cool
