Look Jack, you and I both know this is a blatent ripoff of what the Subways did on the Young for Eternity tour. So I really don't want my holiday fund to go on this Very Happy

And I like the idea of a split thing, half the stuff contributed by the band and half by us fans (ideally with the label organising it, but I wonder how much printing I can get away with at work...)

I quite like having something like "the forum vs BRS" in which we interview them. Because rather than the normal questions (where did you meet, have you shagged each other, were you in any other bands) which we all know the answers to and the band probably get bored of answering, you'd get questions like 'Would you rather be a penguin or an antelope?', "Which meant more to you, winning the cheese challenge on Gonzo or your debut album getting in the top 50?" and "who terrifies you more, dave13 or timhughes?"

Also, anyone got any ideas for names? All I've got is "Book of Secrets" which is lame, or "Sugar If Desired" which is a Lady Muck demo CD title.

Tell me to fuck off and sulk rather than take my bad mood out on people's ideas, but would things like that have any appeal beyond the fifteen or so people who post regularly on here? Sure, it would be funny for us. But given that printing shedloads of these will cost money, you want them to have as great an appeal as possible.

And an other thing, I once spent an evening giving out those damn Subways fanzines. Admittedly not outside a Subways gig (it wasn't my idea, alright) and pretty much everyone just threw them on the floor afterwards.

I'm not trying to put anyone off the idea, I'm just trying to point out some realities.

maybe instead of giving them out, people could sign up for it, kinda like a newletter, and maybe it wouldn't need to be printer, it could just be a virtual thing, so there's no waste of money and only people who want it actually get it.

Well, we wouldn't cram it full of injokes. But I get a much better response from the twenty or so regular posters on here than the 600 odd friends on the street team myspace.

maybe a tour programme with tour photos, artwork and some of the other stuff mentioned, which fans could pay for??

Obviously doing that would mean money would need to be spent to produce it, but i'm just thinking if you want to do something like this may as well do it properly.

what do you reckon bad idea?

I don't think people should have to pay for it, really.
Maybe do a charity, obviously chosen by the band?
Admittedly, I'm now stealing wholesale from Los Campesinos!.
But they might have a charity they want money to go to.

or we could hand it out when people buy merch? Not only are we then having a propaganda drive for the merch, but then people who get it are more likely to care

or I like the idea of selling it for charity. Perhaps both ideas?

That is a good idea, actually. Then it could be done on a more regular basis too, like a monthly edition or something. Well, if it goes well, anyway.

PDF may not be a good idea considering it makes some people's laptops die.

Plus, I was once run out of a pub for discussing pdf files. Stupid Daily Mail readers.

Let's face it james, if you had the forum vs brs, it would be interesting to have some good questions, not involving cheese/penguins/dave13. Nobody gives a fuck about that stuff and it's never been funny.

This could be a good opportunity to have some real fun with the band in making this, we need some innovative ideas, not just a load of crap.

Then again, having said that, all I can now think of is spot the difference.

I do like the idea of the band's input on their music and the sort of questions they would ask other bands and laura's artwork and so on, as well as a little bit about the band. If a feature of the contrast between the two sections was made it could make a nice theme.

I was lying in bed, couldn't fall asleep, as I got an idea for the title.
How about "(6) strings & (a pair of) sticks"? Also, I know that this is something meant for the UK, but if you need to have something translated to or from German or Spanish I could help.(my French and Italian skills aren't that good, but I could try) I'd love to write something, but every time I tried to write about BRS, I always felt that it wasn't good enough. Just let me know if there’s a way I can contribute to this great idea!

^ this sounds good... it'd be nice to hear them talk about the bands that they love and what made them want to be in a band in the first place. Maybe a little bit about their equipment (insert crude joke here) too for the musically geeky?
