BRS to play Hurricane/Southside festival

Postby NiceBoyMusic on Tue Jan 20, 2009 6:28 pm

Blood Red Shoes are going to play at the Hurricane and the Southside Festival here in Germany in 2009.

See here: www.hurricane.de

Other acts to play there include Franz Ferdinand, The Wombats, Johnossi, Kings of Leon, Die Ärzte (a really famous and really annoying German band) and, oh, wait a minute, YEAH, it's Katy Perry!

It's actually a pretty huge festival here, which is cool for the band, but I kinda hoped that they'd return to the Melt Festival, which is a lot nicer than the Hurricane. So, dear BRS: Please play at the Melt Festival, too. Last year's performance was awesome!

I guess Die Ärzte is the reason I'll probably never go to festivals in Germany. They play everywhere and their fans are like flood.

I hope nobody here is Die Ärzte fan

yes, when they play a festival there are billions of Ärzte fans, and those fans are probably the most annoying fans in the world. they're just there to see their favourite band, hate every other band and scream "Die ÄRZTE!" all the time.

most annoying fans in the world. that's why I hope BRS will play the Melt! festival, cause there is no way I go to the Hurricane this year

i have a feeling we wont be at melt - im pretty sure someone told us that they dont really ask bands 2 years in a row. that's why we didn't play hurricane/southside last year, because we'd played the year before.

it's weird that it was on the hurricane southside website before we'd actually said yes to it! but for the record, we have now said yes.

man i feel like i've not been on the internet for ages

we have no idea about frequency festival or french festivals so far. i think most festivals are just starting to ask people now so we're kinda waiting for the emails basically. we've been asked to do a few bits but we're not supposed to announce them yet (even tho they said that about hurricane southside then put it on their own website).

we probably wont play as many as last year because i dont think we'll be asked to do all the same ones again, plus i have a nasty feeling some of the smaller festivals might sit this year out because everyone is economically fucked. but we're dead keen and we'll cover as many countries as possible over the summer, that's a promise.

in other news we sorted out loads of random t-shirts that were hanging around and we're gonna lower the prices on the webshop and sell off all the bits we've got kicking around, think it should go up tomorrow.

I hope that you'll do some Dutch festivals again, but I fear that it'll be Lowlands then. Which I really don't want to go to, so please be nice and do Pinkpop or something, again.

Why don't you want to go to Lowlands? I kinda plan to go there, depents on money and ofcourse lineup.
But BRS played Lowlands last year... still it's true, Editors made two years a row too. Hm.

I don't like Lowlands. It's like thé festival for Dutch people who think they are really cool and really alternative and really different from the rest of the world, even though there are thousands of people there at the same time thinking that same thing, slightly odd. And for many of those people you can do whatever you want or like all through the year, but if you don't go to Lowlands you suck. So, not my kinda thing, even though they have some great names every year. Also, it is almost at the same time as Pukkelpop in Belgium, which has pretty much the same bands because of that, and is much more fun.

I guess Werchter is the only Belgium/Dutch festival they didn't play last year, so they'd have to play something again? Since I don't see them play only really small gigs over here, and they also wouldn't ignore us completly. But I'm not sure which festival would give them two in a row, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Pinkpop.

Are you still gonna be in Amsterdam someday soon?
