Huge sigh of relief today, we've re-signed Barcham for two years.

I can't remember the last time I was this excited as a Gillingham fan. Quality players are resigning contracts (Barcham, King, Royce), we've got two players playing and scoring in a midsummer international tournament, we've got rid of a lot of the dross, signing new players even before we start playing friendlies (let alone before the season starts), even the new shirt looks half decent!

I wonder what odds I can get on a second successive promotion?

I've found 14/1 on promotion and 40/1 on winning the league, might put a fiver on promotion methinks

You do get to welcome Leeds Utd to the Priestfield as well this season lads.

You know how when you're on a big rollercoaster, you've got the chain-link pulley system dragging you up the first hill out of the bit where you board the coaster, then there's a few metres of track up high, then the bit where the coaster pauses just before you plummet?

Today feels like that. Teetering over the edge, thinking "oh god we're gonna get relegated I want to get off" and knowing there's not a damn thing I can do about it but hold on tight, and enjoy the ride.

Gills against the pig-worrying tractor molesters from Wiltshire. Bring. It. On.

Oh crap

Seriously, what did the bosses expect other than to be totally slaughtered when they sold our best striker (admittedly for a decent price) and let all but one go, then fail to replace any of them. One striker on the whole senior team ffs, and a load of new signings that even Leeds didn't want.

Not impressed

To be fair, for the first half it was equal. It was only after the 3rd goal that Swindon just gave up.

Poor Delia Smith.
So make of this what you will, so many little shots in the dark, the same records, the same shoes and a smile that almost broke your heart. Yeah, I'm all for local history. Three things I'll remember: her pasta was shit, she left with a CD still playing, and you, you always threw your arms around me in your sleep.

I'm probably one of the few non-Norwich fans who were disappointed by their heavy defeat. Why did Colchester have to score so many! :prat:

Really quite impressed with 'The Football League Show' on BBC1. I only switched on just now (at the exact time they started showing our FIVE!! we put past the mighty Swindon :) ) but they're giving the two lower leagues a good chunk of coverage plus there's a little bit of an interactive element with some emails being read out. Good to see Nick Halling getting some work in the NFL off-season too. It's on so bloody late tho, and might be a long slog watching through it when MOTD is on right before

Welcome to division 1 Norwich.....8 goals scored in first home game of the season the only problem being Colchester scored 7 of them...Not really much of a fan(thank god).....Listened to some of the game on local radio and the worrying thing is they kept saying Colchester were not actually playing that well.....being 5-0 down at home before half time is not good.
The radio reporter also said a couple of supporters ran on to the pitch at one point and one threw his season ticket in to the home dug out(that's clever being banned from the ground after less than one game of the season gone)
Oh well another game on Tuesday who's going to predict the score.

Well we certainly aren't going to the World Cup. AGAIN.

Look on the bright side, maybe you'll get a new manager as a result.

Or, try playing Mexico at the Azteca. You get used to losing quite easily there.

What's going to happen next at Norwich...First they lose 7-1 at home then they win 4-0 away and then the manager gets the sack.....The board have been accused in the past of avoiding making difficult descisions(ie not getting rid of Worthington soon enough) but they have now gone to the other extreme........They gave Gunny money to spend pre season to build his own team and after 2 games he's on his way

I'm relieved, expected a right going over away at manure and as it turns out we could've nicked a point.

All eyes on Keith Fahey this year. 300k from St Patricks and he looks a right steal.

I have to say, I love that at the first mention of Barry Ferguson on Match of the Day, the word "disgrace" followed not long after.

I thought Steven Carr was the slowest footballer I'd ever seen but I think Barry Ferguson may just challenge him on that one.

Ferguson will be a fine enough player for the games where we need to pack the midfield (of which there will be many) but I doubt he'll be running the midfield in games we need to take to the opposition. Eck does seem to have some sort of homo-erotic love for the guy tho so you never quite know.

BRS resident Colchester fan here. loved hammering Norwich on the opening day, great way to start the campaign, and to better it, we got shot of the pillock who masterminded Norwich's downfall to er...Norwich. How I smiled.

Was concerned last night with Lamberts departure and rumours the club captain Hammond was leaving fro So'ton (confirmed this morning) that'd we may struggle last night, but thankfully we came through against the Gills to remain top of the league after 3 wins out of 3.

Long may it continue.
