Football thread

Postby Jimbo on Mon Apr 07, 2008 8:21 pm

I'm a Gillingham fan. Two weeks ago I thought we were comprehensibly screwed, what with being 5 points clear of safety and, well, shit. However we're only in the relegation zone by virtue of our (admittedly poor) goal difference, so the optimism is alive!

So, football. Discuss.

I'm a Man Utd fan primarily, but have a small soft spot for Stoke too being the local team and all that.

I'm not convinced Stoke will get promoted. They've been in this position far too many times before and made a mess of it, so one can only hope this is their year - although they'll probably 'do a Derby' and come straight back down again!

I'd like to say that Man Utd will win the league this year, but Chelsea are worrying me, especially now United are without Vidic and possibly Ferdinand too for a few games. It'll be close.

I support Birmingham City. We aren't very good but at least we don't play in pink like our local rivals.

I'm a Rangers fan, me.

*awaits barrage of 'the SPL sucks' posts*

I do follow the Premiership with interest, though (as if I can get away from it  ), and at the moment I favour Spurs, but that's only because of the sale of the almighty Blue Cafu
So make of this what you will, so many little shots in the dark, the same records, the same shoes and a smile that almost broke your heart. Yeah, I'm all for local history. Three things I'll remember: her pasta was shit, she left with a CD still playing, and you, you always threw your arms around me in your sleep.

The SPL sucks!

Happy now? :D

I keep an eye out on how Ross County are doing, mainly because when I decided to adopt a Scottish team they were the furthest league team from my house that I could visit without crossing water, so they were the logical choice really

Jimbo: Well it is true :D the teams in the league are getting better (top half anyways) but the way it is organised and structured is just a complete joke.

gareth: I don't suppose you caught some of Hutton's performances in the Champion's League this season? That's some of the best football I've ever seen from a Rangers player in the past five years. His performances for Scotland in the Euro qualifiers were superb too, especially in Paris and against Italy at Hampden. I still hate the way David Murray forced him out of the club, because he could have been a Rangers legend, but I wish him all the best for the future and hope he becomes a great player for Spurs :)

derek, did see a couple of the scotland games and must admit he looked good, wasn't sure he was worth the money, but i'm a season ticket holder at spurs and having seen him every week i think he looks a bargin. especially as i think i'm right in saying he's only 23? if you've got a left back as good we might do a bit more business in the summer

 I love how we were the only underdog team not to make it to the quater finals, with 3 underdogs through i figured by the laws of extream probabilty we actually had a chance! Then lost 5-1
