last minute gig with the Siversun Pickups. Think that they are playing with The Fall later this month-should be fun.

Brilliant gig last night in Oxford...Loved the venue(Jerico Tavern) and band sounded excellent as usual.....Ritzy went walkabout in the crowd during encore and ended up crowd surfing with guitar still in hand.
As well as all the dates they have listed on myspace they will also be supporting Cage the Elephant in London on 22nd May.

pictures from Wrexham gig at http://picasaweb.google.com/catshoe/TJFWXM#

Good little gig, if slightly rough sound in Central Station. Decent crowd but still deserve much more. The headline tour starts tomorrow in Liverpool, get and see them if you can. If you're going to the Ruby Lounge in Manchester on Friday, you can buy me a drink..

I'll hold you to that Vance. I'll be the middle aged bloke in a Joy Formidable tee-shirt (oh, that's half the audience - LOL)

the setlist from Wrexham is here http://picasaweb.google.com/catshoe/TJFPosterAndSetList# along with the poster I took off the wall and got Ritzy to autograph for me. I must have more of their collective signatures than their bank by now. Set list has a something called "Hell House" TBH the sound quality was a little ropey until I moved away from in front of this silly big box of a speaker in there. Any idea what the numbers are alongside the songs? Effects pedals? They don't take a laptop on stage do they?

cheers, Catshoe (aka Mike)

I still haven't got my ticket for Friday yet. I will pop into town and attempt to get one for the 3rd time. I will tell you what t-shirt I'm wearing on the day.

Thanks for sharing the pics. As for the numbers..., hmmm...., no clue really. Could be the settings for something? Probably something obvious, but is just over my head at the moment.

As for the effects in the photo (many thanks for this one):
Boss TR-2 Tremolo, Boss OD-3 Overdrive, Two Boss Graphic Equalizers, Two Boss DD-? Digital Delays, Boss PH-3 Phase Shifter, Electro-Harmonix Micro POG (octave generator), and a MXR equalizer. Don't know about the laptop, but from the some of the clips on YouTube, I think Rhydian may have some sort of sampler he can trigger with a footswitch. There's probably some other sampler/loop effects going on.

Going with this, I'm wearing a 'monkey business' tshirt if anyone is still reading this and wants to have a chat when I get there.

Ah - didn't see this before we set out. I was on the front with 2 friends - Ritzy almost sat on me when she came and sat on the barrier. Great performance tonight, a couple more songs and spent longer over the others. Very full in there, crowd were loving it.

Aye, it was a good night indeed. I was second from front but due to my positioning was directly in front of Ritzy and had no heads blocking my view of her which was nice.

Cool - you must have been behind the three of us then - three gits in their (ahem) 40s! If that was the case, glad we kept our heads still. Sixth time I've seen them and possibly the best. Toss up between last night and seeing them play to 20 people the first time I saw them

a few photos, inc the set list, at http://picasaweb.google.com/catshoe/TheJoyFormidableTheRubyLounge#

I can't seem to insert photos direct from Picasa here, doh!
