Okay... So, I go to a temp agency to attempt to find something to keep me occupied for the next two weeks.
On the form there are the obvious things (address, qualifications, abilities to get to various places etc.) and there's a bit where you have to sign to say everything is accurate to the best of my knowledge, and also that I've seen a copy of the contract of service (or something like that). I've not seen any such thing, so I obviously don't sign it. I fill in everything else and ask the woman about it, assuming they'd just forgotten to give me it or they'd give me it when I'd finished filling in the rest of the form.
I ask her and she looks at me as if I've just asked something completely stupid and told me that didn't matter, but I needed to sign it and I'd see any contract if they found anything suitable for me. She seemed completely shocked that I was refusing to sign something declaring I'd seen some magical document that I'd not seen. She eventually took it without me having signed it, but I suspect my form will go straight into the recycling bin...
But it really makes me think how many people fill in that form and sign that line without even thinking what they've signed. From what I remember of the wording it wasn't agreeing to said mystical contract, but you were expected to sign saying that you'd at least seen it. _________________ I've finally seen the distance between us,

^ as its a temp agency, its probably a agreement to basically say that you agree for your details to get passed on to possible employers.
there should have been some sort of t&c on there for it, which by you saying "and also that I've seen a copy of the contract of service" im guessing there wasn't anything on there.
never used a temp agency, but thats my guess.
edit: actually forget that, didn't read the last 2 paragraphs you wrote _________________

Sadly they don't have the application forms on their website, but the address is http://www.925.co.uk
The company are called "Travail". Now, I see where they're coming from with the website address (925, 9 to 5... geddit?) but it's really not a particularly good marketing idea is it? Not only is it odd because they sell themselves as doing both permanent and temporary work (temporary work likely to be about as far from 9 to 5 working as possible), but as I've demonstrated with picking apart their application form, most people who go in there don't appear to be able to read and so aren't very likely to understand the subtleties of the website address. _________________ I've finally seen the distance between us,

Finally seen the new look for facebook having tried another of jack's links.
I don't see what the fuss is about. Doesn't look that different and everything's in roughly the same place anyways. _________________ "Time Takes It's Crazy Toll"

I officially hate the girl I work with.
It's our job (at the moment) to clean up some of the resumes in this database.
This database has over 29,000 resumes.
So I keep checking up on how many she's done and kept thinking "Fuck, she's done like twice as many as me."
So I went in and had a look, and she's just gone through and picked out the people with the shortest resumes! Like 2 or 3 pages worth.
Whereas I'm going through in (somewhat of an) order and getting people with 7 or 8 fucking pages of work!
SDALFUPWAEOIARU
But, she's done her job, and done more of her job than me, so it looks like I'M the bad employee. I'm gonna do what she's doing now.
