Hiya, I'm Zanny (but you can call my MysticalChicken or Chicken or MC like pretty much everyone else on other message boards I post to does), and I'm American. I've only been into BRS for a few months, I'd heard of them since the lead singer of my favorite band likes them and had put them in the list of bands she likes on her personal MySpace (and she has excellent taste in music, anyway), but didn't check them out for a while; but one day I was listening to my last.fm radio sometime during the summer and had put the Duke Spirit in the "listen to similar artists" slot... thingy, and one of the "similar artists" was BRS and my last.fm played "Take The Weight". I liked it so I decided to go to my blip.fm and see if they had any songs available; they did so I blipped some and tried to find the CD but was having no luck looking in stores here, so I was saving up my pocket change in a jar so I could get an Amazon.com gift certificate from one of those Coinstar machines we have here (I am sans credit card) and buy it on there. However, on Labor Day weekend I was in one of my favorite music stores, Everyday Music in Portland, but in a location that I hadn't been in before, and THEY HAD BOX OF SECRETS. (Cue much squeeing and general delight.) So, I bought it, obviously. (They were having a sale, too, so I got it for 20% off as well) I really love it and am glad that I finally found it in a store.

Okay, I'll shut up now, I have a tendency to type to much and go into much extraneous detail when I post on the internet.

I like details. Welcome! Which was the band that gave you BRS as a similar artist? Gotta admire your taste for listening to Bettie Serveert so much, hooray Holland!

It was Duke Spirit, sorry if I wasn't clear enough on that... (I also got into Howling Bells by them as well)

and yeah, Bettie Serveert is my favorite band. Getting impatient for their new CD! One of my online friends from the Netherlands sent me a link to an article (in Dutch, so I had to Google Translate even though I know a leeeetle Dutch and could pick out a few words, but as a whole it was too advanced) saying it would be out in January.

The only problem with being an American fan is that I don't think BRS will ever tour over here...

You probably were, I'm a chaotic reader. Duke Spirit are awesome too, you've good taste. I thought BRS once said something about touring the USA properly once the new album is released? Tho I'm not sure and prefer to keep them in Europe obviously  Might go see Bettie in januari btw.

Well, there's two of us on here now; one on each coast. I think they pretty much have to do a tour.

I actually saw Bettie Serveert ages ago at Hershey Park Stadium opening for a Wallflowers/Counting Crows double-bill. I'm pretty sure most of the kids there didn't even know where the Netherlands is, and were just waiting for "One Headlight" and/or "Mr. Jones" so they could be home by curfew.

Oh thank christ, I thought it was another one. At least we know there's only two Swindon fans and they're both on here... :ta: good to have you back.
