I'm upset that Maximo let me down on my last gig of the year. :(

What's up?

They just made a few really bad choices setlist-wise and are generally too exhausted for this tour and I'm scared a lot of fans will be disappointed. Hell, they managed to disappoint *me*. Maybe it's because I know how great they can be, but still.
Plus they haven't managed to sell ANY of these dates out (that's an understatement - venue last night holds about 7,500 people and they sold 2,200 tickets :/).

ahw. that sucks. i can imagine that being frustrating if you know they can do better and all. kinda strange tho that they're playing such big venues when they're selling so 'few' tickets?

They went a bit over their heads cause their last tours over here sold out within minutes. It's really frustrating :(

hm, that's a shame. especially if they're not playing that well. that's not really a good way to take it to the next level. but positive thing for you might be that they'll be playing smaller venues next time then!

sonic youth last night - first gig in 3 years i've walked out on the a band i really like, terrible set, seemed lethargic, no energy, just generally 'meh', no probs with bands playing new stuff but at least mix it up a bit? set just seemed to be going absolutely nowhere

I went to see White Lies twice last thursday  First a small acoustic gig in a music store, and later that day the real show in WATT Rotterdam, which was sold out since july (I managed to get a ticket a few days before it sold out :))

AND IT WAS AWESOME :hail: :headbang:

Los Campesinos! at King Tut's this Saturday. :ta:

Also in the pipeline may be:

A Place to Bury Strangers & Japandroids @ Captain's Rest on Nov 12th
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart @ Stereo on Dec 3rd
Frightened Rabbit @ ABC on Dec 22nd

But those above three are dependant on whether or not I get this job or not. :pissed:
So make of this what you will, so many little shots in the dark, the same records, the same shoes and a smile that almost broke your heart. Yeah, I'm all for local history. Three things I'll remember: her pasta was shit, she left with a CD still playing, and you, you always threw your arms around me in your sleep.

Biffy were pretty great last night. The support however, left a lot to be desired. Manchester Orchestra weren't playing this date which sucked, especially because their replacement - The Computers - are possibly the single worst band I've had the, ahem, pleasure of listening to. They were fucking atrocious.

I'm clearly missing something with Pulled Apart by Horses too, because they weren't particularly impressive.

3 good gigs yesterday, 101 for the year now = wahoo

clues @ puregroove at lunch were rather great, ex arcade fire / unicorns members, defo best band i've seen at puregroove in a while. every band needs 2 drummers tbh

jofo @ rough trade : played 45 mins(!) for free = woot, new stuff sounds a lot better live than on record, kelly looks :wuv: with red hair. 'champagne girls' was rather great.

les savy fav @ the forum : definately the best gig i've seen post pearl jam, absolutely amazing, tim harrington was on fire, the new stuff sounds great and crowd surfing in a bin isn't something you see every day :)
